Who we are:

We are a small and emerging operation based in the coastal village of Aberporth West Wales.

Marcus is at the heart of things...he has a friendly, safe and educational modus operandi, and has a core goal of getting more people in, on and around the water along our coast.

Why?

Marcus was not always this comfortable around the ocean.....having never really learned to swim until he hit his mid 30s he was always a little scared and in truth too embarrassed to get into to a pool out of his depth let alone the ocean!

Too embarrassed to be taught, he taught himself in Llandysul, Emlyn and Carmarthen pools, trying every conceivable training aid along the way, eventually realising that ultimately he just needed to swim.....a lot.

So he did, and in doing so propelled himself from a nearly dying in a 15 minute 400m pool swim in Fishguard to easing through a 26 minute 1900m sea swim in choppy conditions during a 1/2 Ironman.

In doing so he finally became able to relax in the water and realised what he'd missed for decades.

Opportunity....

Marcus now recognises the importance of understanding water, how it works and how we are as creatures in, on and around it.....so, while he continues to learn more every day from people and the environment we're all in, he is actively seeking to create opportunities for others to get in the water too.

Currently an active Coastguard Rescue Officer, Surf Lifesaving Trainer Assessor, Water Skills Academy Instructor +++ and ocean advocate, he wishes for this operation to offer fun and some incidental education to as many participants as is plausible at the point they come to us for hires, lessons and more. He hopes that by people becoming a little more engaged, aware and safer in, on and around the water along our beautiful coastline that a wider effect may be a few less incidents needing emergency assistance......

"As we interact with so many people we have a unique opportunity....as well giving them something fun to do, we can hopefully grow peoples awareness and even educate some on topics  that are important to being in, on and around the beach and ocean environments, an opportunity that should, in my view, not be missed."

We hope you agree, that's a good thing!

Environment

We're incredibly lucky to live in such a beautiful place as the coast of West Wales / the UK where there is such diverse and wonderful wildlife (not specifically the locals, more the creatures) and countryside to enjoy.

The beaches we have are fantastic to visit, but are not without their need for our care......so as a beach lover, the next time you take a walk and enjoy the sand and the sea, keep half an eye open for any rubbish that really shouldn't be there....if it looks safe to remove then show the beach a bit of love and take it away to an appropriate place for disposal and give yourself a pat on the back for being a conservationist.

Want something to look for?....Tailor made cigarette butts are one of the last types of 'accepted' littering....they're often stubbed out in the sand and are often to be spotted on and around beaches only to be washed out to sea!! If you see one, it's a bit stinky, but just grab it and out it in a bin and think of the good your doing for our planets future : )
